MANLY, IOWA - Anna Mikkelson, 74, of 133 Friendship Lan Building A, Apartment 1, Manly, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at the U.S.A. Health care in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City, with the Rev. Kathy Graves, the Hospice of North Iowa Chaplain, officiating. Interment will be in Elk Creek Cemetery in Kensett.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to Anna Mikkelson Memorial Fund.

Anna was born October 5, 1925, in Butler County, the daughter of Fred and Grace (Freeze) Ackerman.

She was united in marriage to Ingval Mikkelson on January 26, 1942, in Albert Lea, Minnesota. They lived in Northwood area for more than 40 years. In the past five years she lived in Decatur, Texas, Grafton, Mason City and Manly.

She enjoyed time spent writing her family and her dog, Casey. She also enjoyed cooking with her specialty being rosettes which she made at Christmas time.

She is survived by her daughter, Marie Grady and her husband, Ted, of Mason City; two sons, Robert Mikkelson and his wife, Sylvia, of Decatur, Texas and Gary Mikkelson and his wife, Belinda of Sac City; five grandchildren, Scott Grady, Sara Curtis and her husband, Scott, Brenda Mikkelson, Joey Mikkelson and Jamey Mikkelson; two step-grandchildren, Chris Rogers and Roy Rogers; five great-grandchildren, Cristian, Candice, Sam, Sonja, and Sophia; five step great-grandchildren, William Allen, Christopher Austin, Brittny, Alyssa and Andrea; one brother, Joe Ackerman and his wife, Mabel, of Northwood; one sister, Etta Swartwood, of Ocala, Florida; a sister-in-law, Carmen Ackerman, of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Henry Ackerman and Ingval.
