MANLY, IOWA - Gerald "Jerry Yezek 63, of 405 North Broadway, died Thursday, February 10, 2011, at his home.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 North Broadway, Manly with Reverend Michael Schueller officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 14, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bride Colonial Chapel 110 East Spring Street, Manly.
Memorials may be directed to the Gerald "Jerry" Yezek Memorial in care of Tracy Van Sabben or Kristie Yezek.
Gerald Alan Yezek was born June 9, 1947, in Mason City, Iowa the son of Kenneth and Arvilla (Doebel) Yezek. Jerry graduated in 1966, from North Central High School, Manly. He was united in marriage to Kay McNally on July 15, 1972, to this union two daughters were born. Jerry worked for the Rock Island Rail Road, Chicago Northwestern railroad and retired from the Union Pacific railroad on July 1, 2007, after 41 years of service.
Jerry enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, bird watching and spending time with his friends; his greatest love was spending time with his family. Jerry was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manly, Isaac Walton, NRA and Ducks Unlimited. He was a collector of pocket knives and enjoyed wheedling.
Jerry is survived by his daughters Tracy (Harold) Van Sabben, Carpenter, Kristie (Kyle Jensen) Yezek, Osage, grandchildren Ashlynn, Jayme and Emmalee Van Sabben, Ethen, Alyssa and Kaileigh Gerdes, Maddisen Mausenhund; siblings Dean (Ann) Yezek, Manly, June (Joe Brennan) Arickx, Osage; aunts and uncles Marilyn (Gene) Urbany, Bernadette (Vern) Smith, Vern "Buster" (Floris) Yezek, nephews Jeff Yezek and Joe (Donna) Yezek, and Brandon (Katie) Arickx; along with other relatives and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and niece Laura Marie Arickx.
Funeral Mass: Tuesday February 15, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church
