KENSETT - Sandra Sue Thompson, 58, died Friday (Feb. 5, 1999) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Kensett, with the Rev. Selmer G. (Sam) Hernes officiating. Burial will be in the Kensett Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 99 Eleventh St. S., Northwood, and one hour prior to service time on Monday at the church.
Sandra Sue Thompson was born on Nov. 17, 1940, in Mason City, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Enter) Cookman. She received her education in the Mason City school system, graduating from Mason City High School in 1959.
She was united in marriage to Allan Thompson on June 2, 1962, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. Sandra continued to live in Mason City while her husband was in the Air Force. When he was discharged, they moved to Kensett in 1967.
After moving to Kensett she began working for E. F. Johnson Manufacturing and also worked for Unisys Manufacturing, and until the time of her death, she worked as a machine operator for the Cole Sewell Manufacturing in Clear Lake.
She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett and was a former Sunday School and Bible School teacher and was a member of the United Teamsters Union auxiliary.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Allan Thompson of Kensett; one son, Jeff Thompson of Northwood; one daughter, Sheila Walker and her husband, Bob, of Manly; two grandchildren, Paige and Jason Walker, both of Manly; one brother, Leonard Cookman and his wife, Charlotte, of Milwaukee; three sisters, JoAnn Neely and her husband, Eugene, of California, Beverly Easley and her husband, Thomas, of Northwood, and Nancy Hendrickson and her husband, Gary, of Mason City; mother-in-law, Audrey Thompson of Kensett, and several nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; a stepfather, Frank Angel; and a father-in-law, Arley Thompson.
