NORBERT O. HOGBIN

JOICE - Norbert O. Hogbin, 78, of rural Joice, died Wednesday (Aug. 25, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice-Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett, with the Rev. Selmer "Sam" Hernes and the Rev. Tim Nappe officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 E. Spring St., Manly, and will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Conner Colonial Chapel, Northwood, is in charge of arrangements.

Norbert O. Hogbin was born May 19, 1921, in rural Manly, the son of Emmanuel Reason and Hilda Mae (Berhow) Hogbin. He graduated from Hanlontown High School.

On October 10, 1943, he was united in marriage to Leora Hodson in Fertile.

Norbert farmed in Worth County all his life and was a longtime member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church, rural Kensett. He absolutely loved to dance, especially the polka and he also loved his tractors and old cars. He cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed carpentry work.

He was a member of the Elks club in Albert Lea, the Manly Camera Club and volunteered his time at RSVP and the Lime Creek Nature Center.

He is survived by three children, Curtis Hogbin, of Indianapolis, Ind., Daryl Hogbin and his wife, Lisa, of St. Louis, Mo., and Diane Hammond and her husband, Steve, of Polk City; grandchildren, Michelle Sharett and her husband, Kevin, Denice Mefford and her husband, Steve, and William Hogbin and his wife, Katrina, all of Indianapolis, Ind., Daniel Hogbin and Zachary Hogbin, both of St. Louis, Mo., Tyler Hammond and Erin Hammond, of Polk City; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Meagan and Morgan Sharett and Brittany Mefford; and his special friend and companion, Peg Mannens, of Manly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
