MANLY — Theodore A. Rumbley, 89, of 307 W. Elmore St., Manly, died Thursday at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethel United Methodist Church, Manly, with the Rev. Robert Cummings officiating. Burial will be in the Manly Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 Spring St., Manly, and will continue one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
Theodore A. Rumbley was born April 14, 1909, son of Oliver A. and Sarah Maude (Burns) Rumbley. He married Evelyn Margaret Everson on Sept. 2, 1933, in Manchester.
Ted moved to Manly with his family at the age of 13 from Des Moines. He graduated from Manly High School and attended Cedar Falls Teachers College. He worked and managed Fullerton Lumber Company for 35 years, retiring in 1972.
Ted served many years on the Manly Volunteer Fire Department, the town council and the Manly School Board. He also served as the planning and zoning officer of Manly for many years.
He loved golf and was a charter member of the Pioneer Town and Country Club. He was an active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Rumbley, of Manly; one son, Nolan Rumbley and his wife, Janice, Des Moines; two grandchildren, Naomi Zepeda, of Cedar Rapids, and Jon Rumbley, of Philadelphia, Pa.; two great-grandchildren, Hanna and Samuel Zepeda, both of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five sisters.
