HANLONTOWN - Evelyn Irene (nee Kephart) Grouette Brunsvold, 82, of Hanlontown died Sunday (July 4, 2010) at Heritage Care Center in Mason City, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 9, at Elk Creek Lutheran Church in rural Kensett, with Pastor Linda Johnson and Pastor Denny Hudson officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St., Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will take place at Concordia Cemetery in rural Joice.
Evelyn was born on January 4, 1928, in Fremont County, near Bartlett, the daughter of Frank and Alta Mae (Study) Kephart. She attended Bartlett school and graduated high school, Class of 1947.
She was united in marriage to George Grouette in October 1949. Evelyn worked as a cook for several businesses in the Mason City area.
On October 24, 1980, Evelyn married Enis J. Brunsvold in Mason City. Together, they farmed for several years near Hanlontown. Enis passed away on Oct. 11, 2007.
Evelyn loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cooking and the little tricks that went along with it were her life. She loved to travel and loved animals, especially her dogs Blackie and Shadow.
She is survived by her children, Betty (Jack) Nichols of Waterloo; George Grouette Jr. of San Marcos, Texas; David Grouette of Hanlontown; Paul (Tammy) Grouette of Mason City; Bill (Cindy) Grouette of Northwood; 12 grandchildren, Mark, Brad, Daniel, Jeremy, Krystal, Shanna, Lisa, Jessica, Keegan, John, Bill Jr. and Jared; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Eunice Haugo, of Lake Mills; along with several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Enis; six brothers, Frank (Buss), Bill, Clark, Odell, Floyd (Barney) and Rollin; four sisters, Erma, Florence, Ruby and Margaret in infancy; son-in-law, John Cooley; daughter-in-law, Paula Grouette; and grandson, Michael Grouette.
