MANLY, IOWA - Bridget J. "Betty" Werle, 85, of Manly died Friday (March 26, 2010) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 29, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manly, with the Rev. David G. Kucera officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Manly. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 Spring St. in Manly, with a scriptural wake service at 5 p.m. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa in lieu of flowers.

Betty was born July 12, 1924, in Bridgewater, S.D., the daughter of John Joseph and Mary Esther (Burke) Collins.

She met Delos, the love of her life, while he was on a pheasant hunting trip in South Dakota. She married William Delos Werle May 18, 1941, in Manly.

Betty was a gentle soul with a love of life. She enjoyed quilting, playing cards, gardening, Scrabble, traveling and especially her church and family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly.

She is survived by her four loving children, Bill Werle and his wife, Sandra, Minneapolis, Minn., Mike Werle and his wife, Debby, Irving, Texas, Steve Werle and his wife, Deborah, St. Paul, Minn., Ron Werle and his wife, Becky, Little Rock, Ark., and daughter-in-law, Karen (Johnson) Werle, Mason City; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Mike Collins, and his wife, Mary, of Sioux Falls, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother and sister infant twins, Joseph and Josephine Collins; sister, Vera Weber; brother, Pat Collins; a son, Dennis; and one grandson, Christopher Joseph Werle.
