Lydia Marie Louise Borchardt

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 15, 1988 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, for Lydia Marie Louise Borchardt, 85, of Grafton. She died Saturday, March 12, 1988 at a Mason City nursing home. The Reverend Gregory Bjornstad officiated and burial was in the Grafton Cemetery.

She was born August 25, 1902 in Union Township in Worth County to Heinrich “Henry” and Hulda (Kirchgatter) Hinsman.

She married Ferdinand A. Borchardt on April 2, 1923. They made their first home on a farm south of Grafton and in 1933 they moved to Rock Falls. In 1964, she moved to Grafton after Mr. Borchardt died.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters; three brothers; and a grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Verna) Dobel of Manly; two sons, Marvin and Glenn, both of Mason City; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
