Elise "Lizzie" Kirchgatter Funeral Held at Emmanuel Lutheran

Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Kirchgatter, 77, of Grafton, who died October 30, 1978, were held November 1 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton with the Reverend Gary Panko officiating.

Elise (Lizzie) Alfreida Wilhelmine Diedrich was born November 1, 1900 in rural Grafton, the daughter of David and Wilhelmine (Schmidt) Diedrich. She was baptized and confirmed in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, where she was a lifelong member.

She married Benjamin Kirchgatter at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and two children were born to them. After their marriage they resided in Manly and Forest City, but when Mr. Kirchgatter became ill, the moved to Grafton.

Mrs. Kirchgtter was employed as a telephone operator in Grafton for 10 years prior to the dial system. She enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, baking, crocheting and embroidery work.

She was preced in death by her husband; her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Kirchgatter is survived by one son, Orlin of Grafton; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Ilene) Navratil of Grafton; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Grafton Cemetery with Reverend Panko in charge of committal services.
