Bernice Arlene Bride 88, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Linda Johnson-Presholt officiating. Burial was in the Manly Cemetery, Manly.

Bernice was born on April 17, 1920, in Danville Township, Worth County, the daughter of Ole L. and Bertha Ovidia (Sparby) Roslien. She graduated from Kensett High School and completed her schooling graduating from Waldorf College. After graduation she started work at the Manly State Bank. Bernice was united in marriage to Robert C. Bride on Feb. 4, 1943, in Mesa, Arizona; to this union two children were born. After Robert's discharge from the Army Air Corps they returned to Manly and in 1948 purchased the Bride Funeral Home from his parents. Bernice assisted with the operation of the funeral home as well as serving on the board of the Manly State Bank. During retirement she enjoyed wintering in Arizona and traveling which normally included some work on researching historical records and genealogy. Bernice was particularly proud of finding family artifacts that she was able to donate to several museums in Iowa and Wisconsin. She enjoyed playing Bridge with numerous friends. Bernice was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 63-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, 56-year member of the Heatherhill Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as a Worthy Matron; she participated in several other local groups.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Robert Bride Jr. and wife Marcia, of Apple Valley, CA; granddaughters Nicole Lipton and her husband Shawn, of Seattle, WA, and Jessica Bride, of San Francisco, CA; along with other relatives and numerous friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Bride and infant daughter Mary Ann Bride.
