FERTILE, IOWA - Susan Kennedy, age 48, of Fertile, died Monday, June 8, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with a graveside service at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Memorials may be given to the Susan Kennedy Memorial Fund.

Sue was born June 27, 1960, in Iowa City, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Siebenbrunner) Johnson. She grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1980. She later moved to Mason City.

Sue married Charles Kennedy on Aug 22, 1987, at the Church of Christ in Fertile. She enjoyed drawing, yard work and listening to music. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Sue is survived by her husband, Charles Kennedy, of Fertile; son Troy Johnson and his fiance, Heather Hartema, of Ventura; grandchildren Ciara and Jaden; stepmother, Diane Johnson, of Fort Dodge; brothers, David Maxson, William Maxson, Russell Johnson, Lee Johnson and Daniel Johnson and his wife, Judy, of Council Bluffs; and a sister, Pam Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Richard.
