GRAFTON, IOWA — Joan Alberta Molsberry, 76, of rural Grafton, died Sunday (May 4, 2003) at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City after a courageous battle with cancer.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manly, with the Rev. David G. Kucera and Monsignor Joseph Slepicka officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 East Spring Street, Manly, with a public scripture wake service beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Joan Alberta Molsberry, the daughter of William and Mary Stella (Mayme) Brennan, was born on Aug. 21, 1926, in Des Moines. She graduated from Manly High School in 1944 and graduated from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1947.

She was united in marriage to Robert Molsberry on July 31, 1948. After their marriage, they farmed together two miles southwest of Grafton where they raised their three children.

Joan was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Plymouth.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Molsberry, of rural Grafton; three children, Mary Jo Molsberry and her friend, Gary Heit, of Minneapolis, Minn., Michael Molsberry and his wife, Marcia, of St. Ansgar, and Kevin Molsberry and his wife. Lisa, of Algona; five grandchildren, Amy Molsberry of Osage, Sgt. Ryan Molsberry of Camp LeJeune, N.C., Kathleen McKay and her friend, David Ring, of Osage, and Rachel and Rebecca Molsberry of Algona; one great-grandchild, Lucas McKay of Osage; a sister, Sharon O’Keefe and her husband, Dennis, of Manly; two brothers, Willis Brennan and friend, Dixie Stromley, of Manly, and Douglas Thompson and his wife, Cheryl, of Lakeville, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Patricia Klemz and her husband, Dale, of Overland Park, Kan.; nieces and nephews, Deborah Aves of Kensett, Pamela Brennan of Mason City, Jeffrey and JoEllen Brennan of Bozeman, Mont., Timothy and Kelley O’Keefe of Manly, Ann and Steven Matzen of Manly, Michael and Stephanie O’Keefe of Overland Park, Kan., James and Heather O’Keefe of Manly, Steven and Sean Thompson of Lakeville, Minn., William and Jill Klemz of Topeka, Kan., and Julie and Jeffrey Lickteig of Overland Park, Kan., and her special and dear friend, Jean Kemna.

Her parents preceded her in death.
