NORTHWOOD — Jack H. Culbertson, 74, of Northwood, died Friday (Jan. 30, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, Carpenter, with the Rev. Kathy Larson officiating. Burial will be at the First Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar.

Visitation will begin after 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of Northwood is in charge of arrangements.

Jack was born on Jan. 10, 1924, in rural Carpenter, Iowa, the son of Noris L. and Lela Adams Culbertson. He grew up on the Culbertson farm, keeping busy with the farm operation.

Jack took a refrigeration course, which took him from the area for that period of time. After his schooling, he worked in Osage, Iowa, for a refrigeration company. His work in the trucking business brought him to the St. Ansgar and Carpenter area, where he trucked for Wayne Bork. Upon retiring, Jack lived in the Viking Manor in Northwood and later moved to the Lutheran Retirement Home of Northwood.

Jack was everyone’s friend, being interested in their lives. He enjoyed good food and home cooking. He also enjoyed fishing, reading and especially cribbage.

Jack is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Frances) Walser, of Northwood; and Mrs. Charles (June) Low, of Palm Springs, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dean C.
