MANLY, IOWA - Ginger E. Helmer, 86, died Tuesday (July 22, 2008) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 815 N. Kentucky Ave., Mason City, with Pastor Roy Weeden officiating. Inurnment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorials may be directed to the Ginger Helmer Memorial Fund.

Ginger was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Armstrong, the daughter of Walter E. and Mabel L. (Norris) Benton. She attended school in Manly. She was united in marriage to LeRoy Helmer in September 1947; to this union two children were born.

Ginger loved reading, baking and being outdoors. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends. She was a sweet, kind, gentle, and patient person. Ginger was a good listener to many. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by her children, Lonnie (Debbie) Helmer of Mason City and Nancy (Terry) Eldridge of Fertile; grandchildren, Lynn Helmer of Hampton, Christie Helmer of Mason City, and Devon Eldridge of Garner; great-grandchildren, Renee Helmer, Ryan Helmer and Eli Eldridge; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, LeRoy; and sisters, Marie Larson, Virginia Suby and Darlene DeMaris.
