NORTHWOOD - Edith Theone Jacobson, 85, of Northwood, Iowa, died on Monday, July 28, 2008, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (July 31, 2008) at First Lutheran Church in Northwood with the Rev. Daniel Hart officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. today in the East Rake Cemetery, Rake.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Schroeder & Sites Funeral home, Highway 65 South in Northwood.

Edith Theone Jacobson was born Sept. 24, 1922, on a farm near Rake to John T. and Alma (Matson) Johnson. She graduated from Mankato State College in 1967 with a BS degree cum laude. She taught in rural Minnesota for four years and 20 years at Northwood-Kensett Schools.

Edith was a member of First Lutheran Church and Deborah circle, NEA, IPERS and the VFW Auxiliary.

She married Maynard Jacobson Sept. 4, 1945. He died in 2000.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

She is survived by three children, Merle (Kay Reese) Jacobson, Hilltop, Minn., Laura (Vince) Mangan, Spring Valley, Minn., and Bruce (Dawn) Jacobson, Albert Lea, Minn.; two sisters, Gladys Jonson, Ferndale, Wash., and JoAnn (Dale) Golbuff, Albert Lea, Minn.; seven grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be given to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
