Leslie Dokken, 72, of rural Kensett, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at his home. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2007, at the Elk Creek Lutheran Church, Kensett, with Reverend Tom Martin officiating. Burial was held in the Elk Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Leslie Dokken was born on October 1, 1934, in rural Kensett, the son of George and Wannie (Elam) Dokken. He attended rural Brookfield Township #7 school, and graduated from Kensett High School in 1952. Leslie worked at the Sugar Beet Plant in Mason City, and also worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation in the road maintenance department for 21 years until his retirement. He was united in marriage to Donna Cockram on August 19, 1972, at the Zion-St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield.

Leslie enjoyed puttering around the garage, working on his cars, John Deere Tractors, fishing, playing 500 cards, and socializing with family and friends.

He was a member of Elk Creek Lutheran Church, was custodian at the church for many years, and was on the church council.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Donna Dokken of rural Kensett, nine brothers and sisters, Mary (Merle) Klinge of Clear Lake, Hazel Erickson of Austin, MN, James (Arlis) Dokken of Alexandria, MN, Truman (Donna) Dokken of Blue Eye, MO, Donald (LaVonne) Dokken of Austin, MN, Wilford (Karen) Dokken of Alden, MN, Rueben Dokken of Alexandria, MN, George (Vicky) Dokken of Kensett, and Juanita (Dutch) Bollinger of Alexandria, MN, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
