Roy D. Felland, 91, of 306 16th St. N. died Nov. 10, 2007 at his home in rural Northwood, Iowa.

Roy Delmain Felland was born on April 20, 1916, in rural Joice, the son of Gunder and Martha (Fjeld) Felland. He grew up and attended country school in Joice.

In 1940, Roy enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in the Pacific with the USS Indianapolis. In 1945, following his honorable discharge, he moved to Forest City.

On May 6, 1950, Roy was united in marriage to Almira Olson at Northwood. Roy and Almira made their home in the Austin, Minn. area, where he was one of the first radio and television repairman. The couple moved to Arizona in the late 1950s where Roy continued to repair radios and televisions, before moving back to the Northwood area. Roy owned and operated a garbage business in Northwood until retirement in 1985.

He enjoyed working with his hands, talking politics, working outdoors, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Almira, of Northwood; three sons, James Felland, of Northwood, Dennis Felland, of Nora Springs, and Thomas Felland, of Northwood; one sister, Adeline Johnson, of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Wallace (Marge) Felland, of Forest City; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gunder and Martha; brother, Marvin; and two infant sisters.

Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.
