Janet Thelma Eldora Klein, 87, of Northwood, died Tuesday, (June 6, 2006) at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2006, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 North Ninth Street, Northwood, with the Rev. Wayne Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Thursday, June 8, 2006, at the Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.

Janet Thelma Eldora Klein was born on March 30, 1919, the daughter of Anthony and Esther (Thoen) Hrubetz. She was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of her baptism through confirmation at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett. She attended and received her education in the Kensett School system, graduating from Kensett High School.

She was united in marriage to Everett Ray Klein on October 5, 1941, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett. He preceded her in death on August 21, 1999.

After their marriage, Everett and Janet began farming west of Fertile before moving north of Hanlontown. They continued to farm in the Hanlontown area before moving to the Grafton area where they farmed for 17 years. They moved to Northwood in 1965, where Everett started the Klein Painting and Repair business. Shortly after moving to Northwood, Janet began working for Carroll George Inc. in Northwood, working there for several years until her retirement.

Janet enjoyed baking cookies, find a word puzzles, Christmas with her family, gardening, flowers, going with her husband on picnics and to the Band Festival in Mason City, and being with her family and grandchildren.

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and the Rachel Circle in Northwood.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Sharon Tiedeman and her husband, Dennis, of Mason City, and Cynthia Martinson and her husband, Bill, of Mason City; four grandchildren: Lori Ellingson and her husband, Mark, of Mason City, Steve Tiedeman and his wife, Lisa, of Mason City, Mandy Martinson of Mason City, and Richie Martinson and his special friend, Stephanie Broege, of Mason City; three great-grandchildren: Chelsea Ellingson, Laurel Tiedeman, and Parker Niles; and a sister, Phyllis Mortenson of Northwood, as well as other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett Klein; and five brothers and sisters; Charles, Doris, Franny, Ellie, and Roger.
