John E. Trustem, carrying on general agricultural pursuits on section I3, Fertile township, his time being successfully devoted to general agricultural pursuits and stock raising, was born July 25, 1884, on the farm where he still makes his home, his parents being Eric and Eliza (Johnson) Trustem, the former a native of Norway, while the latter was born in Sweden. In middle life the father left the land of the midnight sun and came to the new world, settling in Spring Grove township, Worth county, Iowa, while subsequently he removed to Fertile township and purchased the present homestead farm of two hundred acres. This he improved and continued to further cultivate and develop to the time of his death, which occurred in 1895. His wife came to the United States with her uncle, Magness Hanson, and settled in Bristol township, Worth county. Mr. and Mrs. Trustem were always identified with the farming interests of Worth county and were respected and representative citizens of their community. Mr. Trustem gave his political support to the republican party and his religious faith was that of the Lutheran church.

John E. Trustem, whose name introduces this review, was reared upon the old homestead farm, where lie has spent his entire life. When his father died he and his brother Gule took the farm and have since operated it on an extensive scale, carrying on general farming and stock raising. They produce the crops best adapted to soil and climate and have high grade stock upon the place. Their business is carefully, wisely and successfully conducted. They are men of energy, of perseverance and determination and carry forward to successful completion what they undertake.

Gule E. Trustem, the brother, was born on the old home farm and was educated in the public schools of Fertile, since which time he has been associated with his brother in their farming operations. They display sound judgment in carrying on their interests and their enterprise is producing excellent results. Their farm of two hundred acres is a valuable property owing to the excellent improvements that have been placed upon it and the progressive methods of farm work which are utilized in the cultivation of the land.
