Amos Bentley

Amos Bentley was elected the first prosecuting attorney of Worth county, and although some doubt exists as to his having ever been a member of the legal fraternity, still his official station excuses, in some degree, the mention in this connection. He was one of the Argonauts of that eventful year, 1856. He, in company with his brother, Martin V., settled, in the spring of that year, at Glenmary. He was a man of ordinary attainments and, as has been said, was the only prosecuting attorney of the county court. He removed from the county a number of years ago to Missouri, and has been entirely lost sight of since. Source: History of Mitchell and Worth Counties, Iowa, 1884, p.589
