Ole Peterson

Ole Peterson, one of the settlers of 1856, was a native of Norway, born Dec. 19, 1819. When a young man he left his native county and came to Rock Co., Wis., and engaged in farming. He was married in 1854 to Mrs. Gertrude Amundson, a native of Norway, born in 1818. She had four children by her first marriage. In the spring of 1856 Mr. Peterson came to Brookfield Township, Worth county and settled on a the southeast quarter of section 15, and built a log house. In 1872 he became insane, and was sent to the asylum at Mount Pleasant, where he died April 14, 1873. Mrs. Peterson is still living with her sons on the old farm. They had a family of four children – Sarah, Peter, Amos and Ole (deceased.) The farm contains 280 acres, and is owned jointly by Peter and Amos.
