Nils E. Knudson
N. E. Knudson is engaged in general merchandising in Lincoln township. He is doing an excellent business. He was born in Norway, Oct. 11, 1849. When he was two years old his parents emigrated to America. Landing in New Youk they went to Madison, Wis., where they lived two years. Then went to Mitchell county where he followed farming twenty-four years. July 20, 1877, he moved to Worth county. He kept a restaurant three years. In 1880 he opened a general dry goods store and has steadily increased his trade. He was married March 27, 1875, to Ellen Iverson, born in Wisconsin in 1846. The have three children – Chester, Nellie and Emma. They are members of the Norwegian Lutheran Church. Source: History of Mitchell and Worth Counties, Iowa, 1883, page 794.
Supervisor N. E. Knudson was born in Norway Oct. 11, 1849. When he was but two years of age his parents emigrated to America. The family settled in Madison, Wis., where they remained for two years. Continuing their journey westward. They reached Mitchell county, Iowa, where the subject of this sketch grew to manhood.
July 27th, 1877, he removed to Manly and opened a restaurant. Three years later he disposed of this business and entered the dry goods business which he followed with unvarying success for six or seven years. After disposing of his mercantile interests he purchased a fine farm near Manly which he still owns. Mr. Knndson was married on the 27th day of March 1875 to Miss Ellen Iverson, a native of Wisconsin. Source: The Semi-Centennial Souvenir of Northwood, Iowa, 1907, page 14.
