N.T. Christianson was born in Denmark in 1867. When eight years of age he was thrown upon his own resources and from that time till the present, he has rustled for himself. He came to America in 1886. and shortly after arrived in Northwood with a dollar and a half in capital, and a determination to amount to something and make a career for himself, which was worth far more than capital. Early in 1887 he began his experience in merchandising in the general store of the late Al Smith, where he remained five and a half years. For nearly two years thereafter he was in the employ of Holland & Lund, leaving them to go back to the Smith building as the "Co." in H. Christianson &, Co. Early in 1896 he began going it alone and so continued until Sept. 1, 1899, when he joined forces with T. 0. Lund, under the firm name of Christianson & Lund. This firm was dissolved July 25, 1905, since which time Mr. Christianson has conducted business alone. His location on one of the most prominent corners in the city is conducive to trade and his business has always flourished satisfactorily.

Mr. Christianson was married on November 19, to Miss Nettie Thompson. They have two children Bernice L. and Majorie P.
