Tollef S. Rud, who follows farming on section 25, Bristol township, Worth County, was born in Norway on the 10th of December, 1874, and is a son of Sever and Sigrid (Rud) Rud, both of whom are natives of the land of the midnight sun, whence they came to the United States in 1886. The established their home in Brookfield township, Worth County, where the father resided for ten years, cultivating rented land during that period. About 1896 he purchased the present home farm of one hundred and ninety acres, which his son Tollef is now operating, and upon this farm he has since made his home.

Tollef S. Rud was educated in the district schools and form his fourteenth year he worked for wages for neighboring farmers, receiving eight dollars per month when he started out. he continued to be employed by others until 1903, at which time a younger brother, who had remained at home assisting the father was married and left home, so that Tollef S. Rud retuned to look after the old homestead and care for his parents. Since that time he has operated the farm, which is most carefully and systematically cultivated and which returns a gratifying annual income for the care and labor bestowed upon it. In addition to his active farming interests Mr. Rud is a stockholder in the Farmers' cooperative Creamery of Tenold. He displays sound business judgment in the management of his affairs and his enterprise and energy have brought to him well merited success.

Mr. Rud is a republican in his political views and keeps well informed on the questions and issues of the day. His religious faith is that of the Elk Creek Lutheran church and its teaching guide him in all of his life's relations
