O. A. Tenold

Councilman O. A. Tenold was born at Capron, Illinois, on the 9th day of May 1859. In 1864 his parents removed to Worth county, Iowa, and settled on a farm 4 1/2 miles west of Northwood. whieh farm is still the family home. Here the subject of our sketch grew to manhood. For a time he was employed as a clerk in Northwood. In 1886, having gained a knowledge of the merchandise business, he became a member of the general merchandise firm of N. E. Thoen & Co., of Kensett. This partnership lasted for 12 years. In the summer of 1897 Mr. Tenold entered the lists as a candidate for the republican nomination to the office of county treasurer. He was nominated and elected and served for three successive terms. Before his third term had expired he entered into a partnership with his brother, John Tenold. and purchased the Frank C. Hall hardware store in this city. This firm is doing a flourishing business, having a trade territory extending over .a radius of many miles. In June 1904, on the death of Councilman A. A. Brunsvold, Mr. Tenold was appointed to till the unexpired term. In 1905 he was re-elected and again in 1907.

Mr. Tenold was married near Northwood on the 16th day of January 1903 to Miss Randena Albertson. To this union five children have been born: Adeline. Inga. Alvin, Stella and Glenys.

Mr. Teuold's father was the late A. O. Tenold, who died in 1900. His mother's maiden name was Ingebor Lee. She still resides on the old homestead west of this city. He has two brothers and three sisters. John is en­gaged with him in the hardware business. Elling on a farm near Northwood. Hannah, wife of L. S. Helgeland. of Lee. N. D. Andrena wife of F. S. Helgeland of Northwood and Miss Emma Tenold, who is one of Worth coun­ty's most faithful and efficient teachers.
