Supervisor N. E. Knudson was born in Norway Oct. 11, 1849. When he was but two years of age his parents emigrated to America. The family settled in Madison, Wis., where they remained for two years. Continuing their journey westward. They reached Mitchell county, Iowa, where the subject of this sketch grew to manhood.

July 27th, 1877, he removed to Manly and opened a restaurant. Three years later he disposed of this business and entered the dry goods business which he followed with unvarying success for six or seven years. After disposing of his mercantile interests he purchased a fine farm near Manly which he still owns.

Mr. Knndson was married on the 27th day of March 1875 to Miss Ellen Iverson, a native of Wisconsin.
