Dr. Ernest Raymond Young was born in Shell Rock, Minn., July 15, 1872. His father, Daniel R. Young, was pioneer of that region, settling there in 1856. Both his father and mother were Yankees, his father being a native of Connecticut and his mother of Vermont, their ancestry in their respective states having long antedated the revolutionary war.

His early youth was spent in attending the public schools. He graduated from the Northwood high school in 1889. The next two years were spent in teaching in Minnesota. In 1896 he entered the Chicago Homeopathic Medical College, graduating there from in 1900, having completed the four year course. Soon after his graduation he opened an office in Northwood where he has ever since remained and where he has been eminently successful in establishing a practice in his chosen profession.

Dr. Young early adopted the custom at present so much in vogue among practitioners of automobile service. He is an enthusiastic chauffeur and day or night he can make a hurry call in emergency time.

He was married in 1896 to Miss Alexandrina M. Gregoire.
