Martin Hanson was born in Norway, March 26, 1841. In 1846 his parents came to America, settled in Winnebago Co., Ill., lived there till 1855, where Martin was reared and educated. He was married June 8, 1863, to Louisa Nelson, born in Sweden. Seven children were born to them—Agnes, Hans P., Tilla, Helen, Andrew, Oscar and Amelia. In politics he is a republican. He has held local offices. The family are members of the Norwegian Lutheran Church.
