Louis P. Severson is engaged in general farming on section 22, Fertile township, where he is now cultivating one hundred and ten acres of valuable and productive land, while at the same time he has the entire management of the old home farm of two hundred and eighty acres. He was born upon the old homestead, just across the road from his present residence, on the 19th of March, 1890, and is a son of Marcus and Olontina (Peters) Severson, who are mentioned elsewhere in this work. The son spent his youthful days in the usual manner of the farm-bred boy, dividing his time between the acquirement of a district school education, the pleasures of the playground and the work of the fields combined with other such tasks as were assigned him by parental authority. He assisted his father upon the farm to the age of twenty-three years and then took. charge of the old homestead, which he operated for one year as a renter. His father passed away about that time and for two years thereafter Mr. Severson of this review continued to carry on the home farm, but during the past two years he has cultivated only a portion of this land-about one hundred and ten acres, while the remainder is cultivated by others. He, however, has the management of the entire place and in its control shows good business ability, sound judgment and unfaltering enterprise.

On the 14th of April, 1915, Mr. Severson was united in marriage to Miss Helen Sagen, of Fertile township. Her father, Kittel Sagen, one of the early settlers of that township, has passed away. Mr. Severson gives his political allegiance to the republican party but has never been a politician in the sense of office seeking. He and his wife hold membership in the Norwegian Lutheran church and are loyal to its teachings. He is one of the progressive farmers and representative citizens of Worth county, within the borders of which his entire life has been passed. He is yet a young man but many a one of twice his years might well envy the success that has come to him as the direct result of his untiring industry and perseverance. In all of his business affairs he is thoroughly reliable as well as energetic and has thus won for himself a good name.
