MAPLETON, Iowa -- Kathryn I. Stoner, 91, of Mapleton died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at Burgess Care Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 4 to 8 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Kathryn Imogene Stoner was born Nov. 4, 1909, in Holly Springs, the daughter of William and Kittie (Young) Burns. She grew up and was educated in the area, graduating from Holly Springs High School with the class of 1928. She furthered her education by attending Iowa Business Tech.

On Dec. 29, 1934, Kathryn was united in marriage to Robert L. Stoner in Le Mars, Iowa. The couple lived in Sioux City, where Kathryn worked for Lever Brothers and traveled, working with the consumer in product testing. She later worked for the Woodbury County Assessors Office in the court house. She retired in 1977 and the couple moved to Perryville, Ark. Robert passed away Dec. 16, 1994.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church as well as a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as Past Worthy Matron.

Those survivors left to cherish Kathryn's memory include a son and his wife, Robert and Connie Stoner of St. Peters, Mo.; two granddaughters, Robin Abruzzese of Ankeny, Iowa, and her children, Brandon, Jordan and Robin's granddaughter, Janelle, and Corinne Harrison also of Ankeny and her daughter, Angela; two sisters, Roberta Edgington of Mapleton and Edith Rose of Hornick, Iowa; along with other relatives, neighbors and friends.

Along with her husband, Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents.
