MOVILLE, Iowa -- Wayne Elvin Lund, 81, of Moville died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Moville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. today, with family present 4 to 6 p.m., at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Mr. Lund was born Nov. 5, 1920, in Laurens, Iowa, the son of Harry and Clara (Ellingson) Lund. He was raised in Laurens, and graduated from Laurens High School. He moved to Webster City in the early 1950s, and to Rolfe, Iowa, in the mid- to late 1950s. He moved to Moville in 1960. He married Leila Marjorie Ives on April 14, 1946, in Kansas City, Mo.

He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. After his military service he attended Iowa State College for two years, studying in the dairy industry program. He worked at a sporting goods store in Webster City and farmed near Rolfe. He worked for Woodbury County Agricultural Stabilization and Soil Conservation Service Direct for 24 years until his retirement in 1983.

He was a member of Moville United Methodist Church, was head cook for the men's breakfast for 10 years, and he sang in the church choir. He was a member of American Legion Wink-Sparks Post 303, Masonic Trial Lodge 532 for more than 50 years, and the board of directors for Western Iowa Telephone Association.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert of Miles City, Mont., and Donald and Arnold Lund, both of North Liberty, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Jeanette and Dale Halquist of Spencer, Iowa; four grandchildren, Robyn, Kasey and Kymberly Lund, and Kenni Clouse; extended family members, Kim and Lorie Jones, Logan Jones, John Monica, Julie Mahler and Curtis Mahler; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
