Susan Ann "Sue" Luther

Susan Ann "Sue" Luther, 72, of Sioux City, passed away on November 15, 2024, at a local hospital, leaving a profound legacy of love and compassion.

Sue's spirit will be honored through a Celebration of Life at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 22, 2024, at Holly Springs Bible Fellowship. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. The burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Sue was born on October 18, 1952, in Sioux City, the daughter of John and Helen (Elliott) Stankiewicz. An alumna of Central High School, from which she graduated in 1970, and Morningside College, graduating in 1975, she built her life upon a foundation of service and empathy. Known for her unwavering dedication to nurturing those around her, Sue was an anchor of support and kindness, cherishing each moment spent with her family and friends. A gifted social worker, Sue dedicated 31 years of her life to the Countryside Heath Care Center, where her servant's heart radiated warmth and care to all those fortunate enough to cross her path. Sue married Karl Luther on July 18, 2004, at Holly Springs Bible Fellowship.

She found immense joy in gardening and cooking, artfully crafting meals that brought loved ones together. As a grandmother, she reveled in the joy of caring for her grandchildren. Sue was an active member of Holly Springs Bible Fellowship.

Sue is survived by her devoted husband, Karl Luther; her cherished children, Elizabeth Schermerhorn, of Sioux City, and Michael John (Janel) Bennett, of Aliso Viejo, California; as well as her beloved stepchildren, Tammy (Mark) Krumwiede, of Bennington, Nebraska, and Todd (Stacy) Luther, of Elkhorn, Nebraska. Her family ties were further enriched by her grandchildren, Payton, Madison, and Allison Schermerhorn, Brady and Brielle Bennett, Kyle (Lexi) Krumwiede, Kara (Clayton) Kibbie, Chase, Brady, Austin, Hope, and Brandon Luther; her great-grandchildren, Winston and Theo Krumwiede, and Gemma Kibbie; and her brother, John "Chuck" (Carolyn) Stankiewicz, of Sioux City.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Helen Stankiewicz.

With each memory that we cherish and every story that we share, Sue will remain a vibrant presence in our lives, forever a beacon of love and care, guiding us through the memories of her remarkable journey.
