Sherry Ann (Helkenn) Kutzler, 77, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Sloan, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Westwood Specialty Care, Sioux City, Iowa.

A memorial mass will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 11, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Salix, Iowa, with Reverend Father Shinoj Jose, celebrant, officiating. A recording of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Sherry’s obituary. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Burial will follow the luncheon in the Fairview Township Cemetery, Albaton, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Sherry Ann was born May 24, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Sr. and Mary (Henderson) Helkenn. She attended East High School and graduated with the class of 1965.

Sherry and Marlon Kutzler were united into marriage on January 27, 1990, in the Skien Lutheran Church, Albaton, Iowa. Marlon passed away on December 23, 2022.

She was a dedicated employee working for IBP in Quality Control for over thirty years.

Sherry loved sports especially the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, and the former San Diego Chargers. Sherry enjoyed traveling with Marlon. They would make annual trips to Minnesota for family gatherings, fishing, gambling with her sister, and attending Minnesota Vikings and Twins games. Other memorable trips included salmon fishing with her brother in Oregon and Las Vegas family get-togethers.

Survivors include her son, Gary Boykin of Sioux City, Iowa; stepchildren, Rachel (Bryan) Ackerman of Des Moines, Iowa, and Regan (Kevin) Immel of Waukee, Iowa; one brother, Edward (Terri) Helkenn, Jr. of San Diego, California; two sisters, Patricia (David) Bauerly of Sioux City, Iowa, and Debbie (Louis) Jones of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlon Kutzler; parents, Edward and Mary (Henderson) Helkenn; and stepdaughter, Lana Jackson.
