3 October 2024James Leroy Jahn, 87, a longtime resident of Anthon, departed a well-lived life on September 5, 2024 in Cedar Hill, Texas surrounded by family.
Born to Edward and Florence (Petersen) Jahn on May 7, 1937, Jim lived most of his life in Anthon and the surrounding area.
He enjoyed bowling, trapping, hunting deer, raccoon and coyotes with his son, nephew, and friends, tractor pulls and raising quarter horses- Apaloosa’s held a special place in his heart. Jim was a fan of all things Dallas Cowboys, Ford trucks, saltwater taffy, Twin Bings and black licorice.
Jim worked as a scraper and dozer operator for several local contractors. Whether you knew him as Jimmy, High Pockets, or by his CB handle Twin Engine, he was known as a friend and dedicated employee.
Jim and Marilyn Hayworth were married June 16, 1968 in Anthon, Iowa and divorced later in life. Jim and Marilyn had two daughters, Amy Johnson, and Michelle (Moran) Dennis; and a son, Richard Hayworth. Jim is survived by his children, Amy Johnson of Decatur, AL; Michelle (Cory) Dennis of Cedar Hill, TX; and Richard (Darla) Hayworth of Boone, IA; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Harold Jahn of Sioux City and Kenneth “Dutch” (JoAnn) Jahn of Moville; brother-in-laws Kenneth Fredricksen and Ralph Freese; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Beverly Fredricksen and Barbara Freese; and nephew Randall Jahn. We will forever remember Jim as a beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and most importantly to many, a friend.
