Mildred Nice

Mildred "Millie" Emily Nice, 87, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in Ames, Iowa. She was born on October 24, 1936, in White Earth, North Dakota to Daniel and Edna (La Bar) Nice.

Millie grew up in Sioux City, Iowa, and married Harold L. Grosvenor in 1956 and farmed in Ponca, Nebraska. Moved to Sioux City, Iowa in 1973 and then to Ames, Iowa in 1985. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Morningside College graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1976 in Sioux City. She received her Master of Art (Counseling, Guidance, and Personal Service) at The University of South Dakota in 1982 in Vermillion, South Dakota. Millie then taught Special Education for two years at South Sioux City, Nebraska, and ten years at East High in Sioux City, and later was a Guidance Counselor for the elementary and high school for twelve years in Nevada, Iowa.

Millie enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, working with pressed flowers, European card stitchery, and her beloved four-legged friends Buff and Missy.

Her survivors are her sons, Kent L. Grosvenor, Kurt W. Grosvenor, and Kevin W. Grosvenor; sisters, Lynn Nice; brother, Virgil "Butch" Nice; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan, and Edna; brothers, Dan, and William; and her sister, Louise Elsner.
