SIOUX CITY - Betty Louise Maxfield, 97, of Sioux City passed away on Nov. 13, 2023, in Sioux City.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 am, November 16, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Christy Smith Funeral Homes Morningside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.christysmith.com.

Betty was born on January 23, 1926, in Sioux City to R. H. (Rock) and Hazel (Hunt) Maxfield.

Betty grew up in the Morningside area of Sioux City. She attended Whittier Elementary School, East Junior High School, and East High School. She then attended Edwards Business School in Sioux City.

She began her 40-year career at Sioux City Armour & Company in the Order and Billing Department. Following the closing of the Armour Company, she continued her career at T. S. Martin and Younkers Department stores. She retired in 1990.

Betty was a 50-year member of Morningside Presbyterian Church. She served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. She also was a past member of the Morningside Rainbow Girls. Betty enjoyed Knitting and word puzzles.

Betty is survived by her sister, Beverly Maxfield of Sioux City, a cousin Mike (Linda) Gunther of Hutchinson, Kansas and many second and third cousins.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, R. H. (Rock) and Hazel (Hunt) Maxfield. Memorials may be directed to St. Luke's (Unity Point) Children's Miracle Network in Sioux City or the Food Bank of Siouxland, Inc.
