HOLSTEIN, Iowa -- R.C. "Curls" Keitges, 81, of Denver and formerly of Holstein, died Thursday, May 27, 1993, at his residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dan-bury; with the Rev. James Tigges officiating. Burial will be in Danbury Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a vigil wake service at 7:30 p.m., at the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.
Mr. Keitges was born Jan. 23, 1912, at Danbury, son of Pierre and Mary Ellen (Kennedy) Keitges. He grew up in the Danbury community. He married Mabel "Babe" Treiber Sept. 14, 1936, at Danbury. They moved to Los Angeles in 1936, then back to Danbury in 1939. They moved to Holstein in 1948. They owned and operated grocery stores at Danbury, Battle Creek, Holstein and Correctionville. Mrs.
Keitges died July 27, 1987. He had lived in Denver since 1989.
He was a member of the Church of Risen Christ Catholic Church in Denver. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and had been a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel and the church's men's club while in Holstein. He was a member of the Holstein Golf Club.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Donald Potter of Denver; five sons and their wives, Patrick and Cheri of Parker, Colo., James and Julie of Fresno, Calif., Joseph and Susan of Adel, Iowa, Robert and Chris of Ala Mosa, Colo., and Thomas and Susan of Kirby, Ore., a brother, Gilbert of Las Vegas; a sister-in-law, Bernice Warnke of Ala Meda, Calif., 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and a son, Billy.
