Elmer Henry Groth, longtime Anthon resident, passed away Monday, November 10, 1975, at a Sioux City nursing home where he had been a resident for a few days.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 13, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon with Father J.G. Skahill officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under direction of Walter Funeral Home.

Elmer Groth, son of Henry J. and Olga Hargens Groth, was born in Ida County near Battle Creek on July 21, 1910. He lived in the Battle Creek and Cushing area before his marriage to Inez Franzen in Holstein on April 27, 1929. He was a farmer and cattle feeder and lived in Cushing, Anthon, Moville and Climbing Hill before retiring in Anthon in 1961. For the past ten years they have traveled south for the winter.

Mr. Groth was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Anthon, a former school director of West Fork Independent, a 4-H leader for the Moville Progressive Club and a West Fork Twp. Assessor.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Allen (LaDonna) Peters of Clear Lake, Iowa; five sons, Leo of Moville, Lyle of Climbing Hill, LaVere of Lenox, South Dakota, John of Ponca, Nebraska, and Mark of Anthon; 14 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Clarinda) Camarigg of Sioux City, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Ludvigson of Holstein, Mrs. Lloyd (Geneva) Wienert of Ft. Brand, Indiana; three brothers, Glen of Kingsley, Alfred of Cushing, and Lverne of Joplin, Missouri.

He was preceded by his parents, three brothers and one grandson.
