Steve R. Hoberg, 82, of Sioux City passed away peacefully at a Sioux City hospital on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family.

Steve was born on March 27, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa to E.Q. "Quill" and Iola Hoberg. He graduated from Central High School in 1958. After graduation, Steve enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was stationed in Japan.

He married Marilyn Kann on June 17, 1961. Steve and Marilyn made their home in Sioux City. In 1973, they moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa, where he was a partner in the Hughes-Hoberg Insurance Agency. In 1981, the family returned to Sioux City where Steve worked as an independent insurance agent until his retirement.

Steve enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 112 of Sioux City.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn; children and their spouses Ross and Angela Hoberg of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kurt and Jennifer Hoberg of Rock Rapids, Stacy and Terry Intveld of Iowa City, Iowa, Leslie and Chris Kobes of Sioux City, and Holly and Chris Kollbaum of Bronson, Iowa; grandchildren Casey VandenBosch, Tyler Pageler, Alex Pageler, Rebecca Franke, Aaron Hoberg, Emily Hoberg, Tanner Kollbaum, Jonah Kollbaum, and Norah Kobes; great-grandchildren Pierce, Lydia, Whitney, Kayla, Ryder, Hadley, Bella, Colin, R.J., and Breanna; sister Susan Hanson; brother-in-law Roger Kann; sister-in-law Donna Kobes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Nancy Wooldridge; brother-in-law Elliot Wooldridge; brother-in-law Bob Hanson; sister-in-law Joyce Blackshear; brother-in-law Fred Kann; and sister-in-law Sharon Kann.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of the ICU at Unity Point St. Luke's for their compassionate care.
