Kurt E. Hodgins, 53, of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at a local nursing home.

Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home with Fr. Andrew Sohm officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to service time with family present. A private family burial will be held at a later date at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Jackson, Neb. Online condolences can be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Kurt was born May 6, 1969, in Sioux City to William and Joan (Folk) Hodgins. He grew up in Sioux City and attended West High School. Following high school graduation, he attended Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) and studied landscaping.

Kurt was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and talking to everyone. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his mother, Joan Hodgins of McCook Lake, S.D.; lifetime partner Mary Lowndes of Sioux City; sisters Annette (Jason) Kyle of Shepherd, Texas, and Bethany (Jacob) Strawn of McCook Lake; sister-in-law Jean Hodgins (David Ingeling) of Kingsley, Iowa; nieces and nephews Christina Haulk, Nick Hodgins, Natalie Kyle, Jason Kyle, Benjamin Strawn, and Chloe Strawn.

He was preceded in death by his father William J. Hodgins; and brothers William D. Hodgins and John D. Hodgins.
