Funeral services for John Martin Conley, 80, longtime Anthon resident, were held Thursday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon.

Mr. Conley died Tuesday morning at his home after a long illness. Rev. A.M. Conlon officiated and burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Anthon, under direction of Walter Funeral Home. Military graveside rites were conducted by McNiff Post #389, American Legion of Anthon.

Mr. Conley was born July 20, 1887, at Tama, Iowa, and as a small boy moved with his parents to a farm near Danbury. The family lived there for several years and then moved to Oto. In 1911 Mr. Conley moved to Anthon. Sometime later he moved to Sioux City where he was employed by a creamery. He retired in 1954 and moved back to Anthon.

He married Irene Dandurand November 10, 1924, at Anthon. She died in 1954. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of McNiff post, American Legion. He had been a member of the Anthon volunteer fire department and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Henry Fitzpatrick of Sioux City and Miss Mary Conley of Anthon; and two brothers, Ligouri of Fremont, California, and James of Sioux City.
