Leo A. Cole, 72, died February 29, 1988, in a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.

Services were held at 10 a.m. March 3 in the Church of the Nativity with Rev. Lynn Bruch officiating. Graveside services were in Mt. St. Joseph's Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa, with Rev. Gerald Zensen officiating. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus stood guard at the funeral service and the rosary service.

Mr. Cole was born April 29, 1915, in Oto, Iowa, and graduated from St. Joseph High School in Anthon, Iowa. He married Gladys M. Eidem February 12, 1942, in Sioux City. They farmed in the Anthon area for a number of years and moved to Sioux City in 1977. He worked for Chris Hansen Construction Company for 15 years and at Port Neal for seven years, retiring in 1978.

Mr. Cole was a member of Nativity Catholic Church.

He was an honorary life member and Past Grand Knight of the Holy Rosary Council 2839 - 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus of Anthon. He was a member of Garrigan Assembly - 4th Degree knights of Columbus and a member of Eagles Lodge Aerie 77 of Sioux City. He was an active volunteer fireman for 22 years and participated in many civic activities while living in Anthon.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, John C. of Jefferson, South Dakota; Pat J. of Huxley, Iowa; and Larry M. of O'Neill Nebraska; a daughter, Mary Lou Grider of Hanover Park, Illinois; a brother, Johnny of Kingsley, Iowa, and ten grandchildren.
