Former Anthon Mayor Dies

ANTHON, Iowa - William R. Chicoine, 73, former mayor and former city councilman of Anthon, died April 23 in a Sioux City hospital of long illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. April 26 in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Anthon. The Rev. J. G. Skahill will officiate. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited April 25 in the Walter Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. by the parish and at 8 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Chicoine was born Jan. 20, 1903 in Sioux City. He married Bertha Thomsen April 9, 1928.

He began his banking career in Ogden, Neb., and came to Anthon in 1931. He was assistant Cashier of the First Trust and Savings Bank in Anthon until he retired in 1968.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Richard of Sioux City and John of Alta; one daughter, Mrs. Daryl (Sandra) Fixsel of Correctionville; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson and one brother, Arthur of Salix.
