Frances M. Castle, 69, of Sheldon, died Friday, July 17, 1998, at the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. today at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sheldon. The Rev. John McGuirk will officiate a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Anthon.

Visitation was Monday at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon. A rosary was read by the St. Patrick's Guild and a scripture wake service was held.

Mrs. Castle was born on Nov. 15, 1928, in Sioux City to Bernard and Marie (McClain) Fitzpatrick. She attended schools in Moville, graduating from Moville High School in 1946 as valedictorian. She attended Briar Cliff College and the University of South Dakota. She married Ralph Castle on May 9. 1953, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville. They lived in Dayton where she worked for the Dayton Power and Light Company. They lived in Sioux City, Spencer and LeMars for eight years before moving to Sheldon in 1970. Mrs. Castle was employed at the Sheldon Hospital for 18 years before her retirement in 1991.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Guild.

Survivors include her husband: three sons, Daniel J. Castle and his wife, Trese, of Greene, Kevin M. Castle and his wife, Deirdre, of Iowa City, and Vince J. Castle and his wife, Joan, of Minneapolis; one daughter, Ann M. Lohela and her husband, Kevin, of Minneapolis: and 11 grandchildren.

Two sons, Thomas and Steven, her parents, and one brother, Larry died earlier.
