John M. Carr, 88, a former Sioux Cityan, died Sunday at a Correctionville, Iowa, nursing home following a long illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon, Iowa. The Rev. J. G. Skahill will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Anthon.

The Rosary will be said at 8 o'clock tonight at the Walter Funeral Home in Anthon.

Mr. Carr was born Nov. 28, 1887, in Cascade, Iowa. He married Genevieve Madden Feb. 18, 1914, in Anthon. She died in 1940.

Mr. Carr farmed in the Anthon area for several years. In 1949, he moved to Sioux City. He was a custodian at St. Vincent Hospital for 19 years.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Howard (Cleo) Hana and Mrs. Maurice (Rita) Coyne, both of Sioux City, Mrs. Karl (Vera) Hoppe of Correctionville and Mrs. Gordon (Corine) Johnston of Storm Lake, Iowa; two sons, Cyril of Sioux City and Leonard of Pompano Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Joseph of Anthon, Albert of Concord, Calif, and Cecil of San Jose, Calif.; 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
