Mr. Lowell Arthur Burnham of rural Pierson, Iowa, died at a Sioux City hospital on Friday, August 12, 1983, at the age of 74 years; 9 months and 28 days.

Mr. Burnham was born on October 16, 1908, in Woodbury County, Iowa. His parents were Arthur O. and Clara (Luddington) Burnham. On May 16, 1945, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Flemming at Anthon, Iowa. She died in 1964. He married Barbara Hirschman at Kingsley, Iowa, on August 14, 1968. Mr. Burnham lived most of his life in the Pierson farm community.

Survivors include his wife; seven daughters, Mrs. Erv (Janice) Burros New Hampton, N. Y., Mrs. Jack (Adele) Weiland, of Moville, Iowa, Mrs. Kenneth (Beverly) Reed of Dow City, Iowa, Mrs. Richard (Anita) Franssen, of Hasting, Nebraska, Mrs. Gary (Lynette) Henry of Holstein, Iowa, Mrs.
Brian (Marcell) Hobbs of Kingsley, Iowa, and Miss Shari Burnham of Pierson, Iowa; three sons, Wayne of Sioux City, Larry of Correctionville and Mark of Pierson; four stepsons, Donald Hirschman of LeMars, David Hirschman of Chicago, Frank Hirschman of Kingsley and Myron Hirschman of Winterset; a brother, Ferrol of Pierson; 15 grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Mr. Burnham were held on Saturday, August 13, 1983, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Michael's Catholic Church at Kingsley with Father Gerald Fisch officiating.

The casket bearers were Messrs. Dale Nafe, Vernon Grauer, Keith Benton, Jerry Martin, Walter Slota and Elmer Rock. The acolytes were Bob and Bill Seuntjens and Jason Grubb.

Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Anthon, Iowa, with the Michaelson Funeral Home of Kingsley in charge of arrangements.

There was a CDA Rosary at the funeral home on Friday, August 12, 1983, at 5:00 p.m. and a scripture service in the evening at 8:00.
