ANTHON, Iowa - Margaret C. Brenner, 88, of Anthon died Friday, April 9, 2004. at Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center in Correctionville, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial will be in Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Anthon. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with a Catholic Daughters rosary at 3:30 p.m., and a vigil wake service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Margaret Christine Brenner was born Sept. 18, 1915, at Anthon, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond E. and Anna C. (Lorensen) Wilson. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic Grade School and High School in Anthon and graduated from Anthon Public High School in 1934.

On June 18, 1934, Margaret married Vivian M. Franks in Anthon. The couple sold automobiles and Allis Chalmers machinery for Petersen Chevrolet Company at Battle Creek, Iowa. In 1945, they started their own automobile repair service in Battle Creek as well as selling Dodges and Plymouths. Margaret was the bookkeeper and parts manager there until 1954, when they sold the business. They moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, for a short time before moving to Tucson, Ariz., in 1955 due to Vivian's health. Margaret worked at a GMC dealership there. Vivian passed away Feb. 7, 1976. Margaret returned to Anthon and lived with her mother and furthered her education at Western Iowa Technical College. She then worked for John Deere at Wilson-Drea.

On March 27, 1987, she married John Brenner at Anthon. They made their home in Danbury and Anthon. Margaret did bookkeeping for her nephew at Wilson Motor Company and later at Anthon Retirement Homes, Inc. John passed away Oct. 24, 1995.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Grace Wilson of Anthon; step children, Maureen Sitzman of Anderson, S.D., Sarah Grenier and her husband, Lloyd of Colorado Springs, Colo, and Mark Brenner of Danbury, Iowa; a step grandson, Robbie Brenner of Danbury; a sister-in-law, Irene Franks of Newport News, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents.
