Evie JoAnn Yockey of Anthon died Wednesday, January 8, 1992, in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services were held Saturday, January 11, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon with Rev. Gerald Zensen, celebrant, officiating. Burial was in Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Anthon under direction of Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home.

Mrs. Blessing, the former JoAnn Yockey, was born October 3, 1939, in Anthon, the daughter of Orval and Marie (McNamara) Yockey. She attended rural and Catholic schools in Anthon and graduated from Heelan High School in Sioux City in 1958.

She married Gerald Blessing May 21, 1960, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The couple lived in Wyoming and Colorado during their marriage. She was employed at Mountain Telephone Company for twenty years and retired because of a disability. She and her daughter returned to Iowa in 1983. They lived in Moville until 1986 when they moved to Anthon.

Mrs. Blessing was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon and Catholic Daughters of America. She was lector at the church and taught third and fourth grade CCD classes. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Survivors include a daughter, Anna Marie Blessing of Anthon, a brother and his wife, Phillip and Darlene Yockey of Anthon, and three sisters, Calista Dunnington of Pierson, Mrs. Marvin (Mildred) Wycoff of Moville and Joyce Karlsrud of Lakeville, Minnesota.

She was preceded by her parents.
