Round Rock, Texas, formerly Sioux City

Neil R. Wood, 85, passed on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, in Round Rock.

Service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, at St. Andrew United Methodist Church of Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Neil was born in Sioux City to Mary (Barber) and Otis Wood. The youngest of five brothers and one sister (Raymond, Oren, Eugene, Marion, and Genevieve a.k.a. Peggy) he grew up on the family farm near Jackson, Neb., before graduating from South Sioux City High School, where he met his wife of 63 years, Donna Marie Berg. They raised their family in the South Sioux City and Allen, Neb., communities. They moved to the Denver area to be closer to their children and grandchildren, where they became active members of St. Andrew U.M.C. and Neil became a Stephan minister. Later they moved to Round Rock to be near their great-grandchildren.

He is survived by Donna, his wife of 63 years; five children LeAnn(Scott) Holcomb, of Phoenix, Ariz., Lisa (Kent) Esch of Round Rock, Leonard (Auda Cuellar Calad) Wood of Houston, Texas, Dr. Linda (Dr. Curtis Cordell) Carlson of the Denver, Colo., Area, and Lyneil Wood of Phoenix; grandchildren Cate, Robert, and Danielle Holcomb, Luke and Seth Carlson, Adam Esch, and Micaela (Jason) Esch Remmert; and two great-grandchildren Ian and Rylie Remmert.

Neil was preceded in death by his grandson Andrew Neil Esch.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Colorado Humane Society or to St. Andrew U.M.C. of Highlands Ranch.
