31 October 1928

This community was saddened Friday by the news of the death of Zoel Beaubien, one of our substantial farmers. Death came to him after an illness of a week's duration with heart trouble and pneumonia being the cause.

Funeral services for Mr. Beaubien were held Monday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in charge of Rev. Father D.K. Hurley, assisted by Rev. Father Cook of Marcus and Rev. Father W.R. Graf of Alvord. Burial was made in Mt. St. Joseph's Cemetery.

At death he was 58 years, 5 months and 28 days of age. He was born at Jefferson, South Dakota, on April 28, 1870, and came to this vicinity when a lad with his parents on August 10, 1881. Since that time he resided on the Beaubien home place where his parents passed away several years ago.

Surviving are four sisters, Misses Mary, Alvina and Lena Beaubien, and Mrs. Ida Adler, of this place; two brothers, Al of this place, and Frank of Hot Springs, South Dakota; also two nephews, Cecil and Kenneth Adler and one niece, Miss Rolla Adler, and their father, Max Adler, all of this community, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Zoel Beaubien lived a good many years of his life in this community and no man ever enjoyed a larger circle of friends. He was a good man, loved his fellow men, and nothing better could be said of any mortal. He never married but resided with his sisters and kept the old home with all its pleasant memories intact. He was a good worker so his life was rich in good deeds.
